This week Privateer Press has shown off the last of the current phase of time travelling casters from the past. This week they have a look at Thagrosh, just after he got hold the Anthanc and started the Journey of becoming, the powerful chap that we know today.

HORDES 0 Level Warlocks: Thagrosh Hellborne – Privateer Press
Thagrosh Hellborne, seems really nicely designed.
First off, he can be taken in Primal Terrors and Oracles – probably the two least popular themes. However he brings some useful stuff to both.
Fog of war. Who doesn’t like Concealment with in 10″ of Thagrosh? This is great as it brings a little bit of shooting defense to any primal terrors list, which before had Valkyries minions or your caster to rely on for that. Its not the best shooting defense – but having a unit of Chosen be Def14 Armor 21 sounds good.
Blight Burst is possibly the best control spell in legion. It stops Warjacks/junior warcasters spending focus, and it stops warbeasts being forced, which can make it very hard to remove your heavy.
Typhon – Thagrosh lets you take Typhon in Oracles or Primal terrors which you couldn’t before. However typhon – though expensive – more so may be on a junior warlock – is really cool, which I find very compelling.
Rapid Mutations these are a pretty interesting mechanic, I’ll nearly always get 2 of these before having to make hard choices about contributing in other ways.
1) Defiant Rage – makes Thagrosh hard to kill. 14(16 because of Fog of war) 17 (19 after hurting him, 21 if he gets a buff) and a transfer target – and well thats pretty good.
2) Draconic Mastery – gets hims a free animus from anywhere with in 10″. Armour buff from a Carnivoran, or an extra slip steam are my favorite ideas currently.
3) Ethrunbal’s Guidance Thagorsh can give his battle group (including himself) rerolls. Typhon has 3 Rat5 sprays. rerolls are really good, because he misses alot, but there are alot of Mat6 Beasts in Legion. Raeks or Carnivians spring to mind that would like these rerolls alot.
So in each list – or in every game Thagrosh’s roll can change up a little bit – which could be alot of fun on the table. I’m looking forwards to it.

Then in Oracles I think the first thing I’d like to look at is Lylth1 with some minions.

The above – Fog of War and Parasite are two great buffs. Thagorsh can provide Serpah, or Mekanoshredder Animus too (which Lylyth will rarely afford to cast. Fog of war gives Lylth Concealment too.
Both these lists – looks different to what we’ve been seeing in the past, and I think Thgrosh0 will bring some to other lists.
